WHS 2011 Summer Reading Guidelines
In September, Westwood High School will host fifty nine student/faculty book groups, as we come together to discuss our summer reading.
Once your book choice has been confirmed, and you begin reading, the following suggestions will help you to prepare for this discussion. (As you read, it might be helpful to have some post-it notes and a pen handy.)
-You should come to the discussion with a few things written down so teachers can be sure you have read the book and are ready to contribute positively to the book discussion:
This sheet will be collected at the discussion, so please be prepared.
Write down at least two quotes, comments or questions to generate discussion.
Write down at least two reasons you would recommend or not recommend the book to others. You could consider how many stars you would give it from one (terrible) to 5 (excellent) and the reason why.
If your book is also a movie, be prepared to discuss the similarities and differences between the two.
The most important task you have this summer is to read and enjoy a good book, have fun!
PLEASE NOTE: AP STUDENTS MAY BE ASSIGNED ADDITIONAL READING AS NEEDED TO FULFILL COURSE REQUIREMENTS
